MediaTek MT7927 on Windows 11: Installation & Driver Guide (Wi‑Fi 7 + BT)
TL;DR
- MT7927 is an M.2 2230 (E‑Key) Wi‑Fi card. Wi‑Fi runs over PCIe; Bluetooth runs over USB.
- For best stability, use Windows 11 64‑bit (23H2+ recommended).
- If you can’t see 6GHz, it’s usually router/region/settings — not a broken card.
1) Before you start: compatibility checklist
- Slot: Your laptop/mini PC must have an M.2 2230 E‑Key (WLAN) slot (not an SSD slot).
- Desktop PCs: You typically need a PCIe adapter. To get Bluetooth working, connect the adapter’s USB cable to a motherboard USB header.
- OS: Windows 11 (64‑bit). Update Windows before installing drivers.
2) Hardware installation (laptop / mini PC)
- Shut down the PC and unplug power (and battery if applicable).
- Open the back cover and locate the existing WLAN card.
- Remove the screw, lift out the old card, and insert MT7927 at ~30°.
- Reconnect antenna leads (MAIN/AUX) firmly.
- Close the cover and boot into Windows 11.
3) Driver installation (Windows 11)
- Go to Settings → Windows Update and install all updates (23H2+ recommended).
- Install the Wi‑Fi driver first, then the Bluetooth driver.
- Reboot.
4) Verify it’s working
- Open Device Manager → check under Network adapters and Bluetooth.
- Connect to a 5GHz/6GHz network and run a basic speed test.
5) Troubleshooting
Bluetooth is missing (common on desktops)
- Confirm the PCIe adapter’s USB cable is connected to the motherboard USB header.
- Reinstall the Bluetooth driver and reboot.
6GHz network doesn’t show up
- Make sure your router has 6GHz enabled and your region supports it.
- Move closer to the router (6GHz has shorter range).
- Update Windows + drivers, then reboot.
Random disconnects / high latency
- Device Manager → adapter properties → Power Management: disable “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power”.
- Try a fixed channel on the router and reduce interference.
